Description
Walking through the outer edges of Catigny Gardens in Winfield, Illinois I came across a field of tall, yellow prarie grass. Next to the field of grass was a weathered fence. The detail and texture on top of a fence post caught my eye - and the lens of my camera.

Wonderful color, light and shadow!
Joni Eskridge replied:
Thanks Donna. There was a gentle wind blowing the grass and making the shadows that fell on the post. It was another thing that caught my eye. Appreciate the visit.

Here we call them year-rings that show the age of a tree....never seen this structure due to drying out of the tree..quite unique...if you count them...he must have become about 40-50 years....:)
Joni Eskridge replied:
Yes, Michel. Here too, they are called year rings as well. Though I'm not sure what method of cutting they used to get those distinct layers with the notches on top. I'm used to seeing a smooth cut, where everything is flat; or I suppose it could be related to the type of tree - not sure.

A simple image that really conveys the thought of place and time. I feel like I am there when I view this piece. Nicely done Joni.
Joni Eskridge replied:
Thanks Skip. Really appreciate your comments and visit. So glad you enjoyed my walk too!
