Artist's Description

When a fern "branch" is fully opened and spread out, it is called a Frond - but in the spring, when it is just awakening from winter and is curled up tight, it is a Fiddlehead. These are somewhere in between Fiddlehead and Frond, but you can see the tightly closed ends. Fiddleheads flavor profile has been described as "sweet like asparagus, grassy and snappy like a great green bean, with a touch of broccoli stem." But be careful if you decide to eat them, because care must be taken in the cooking, and they should never be eaten raw!

About Joni Eskridge

Joni Eskridge

Beauty is everywhere. Sometimes it hits you in the face; you can't miss it. Other times, you have to go looking for it. But always, no matter where you are, you can find something of beauty. I love the grand landscape, the engaging smile, the cute baby. But even more, I love to find the beauty in the ordinary; the mundane; the thing you just walked past without a glance. If I can make you reconsider; to think about the magnificence of the ordinary - that makes me happy.
