Hiking at Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois one spring afternoon, I spotted this Red-winged Blackbird, who reminded me of Edward Scissorhands as I spied his talons gripping the tall marsh grasses.

I love the grand landscape, the engaging smile, the cute baby. But even more, I love to find the beauty in the ordinary; the mundane; the thing you just walked past without a glance. Thanks Michel! We have a lot of marsh land around here, so they're pretty plentiful. It amazes me that they can hang on those tall grasses as they're no small bird. I love their talons. They just started their nesting season a few weeks ago, so they're back in the marshes where they have their nests, and I have many of them visiting my back yard every day. Adrenalin was a fun choice for Maggie's picture!
