Artist's Description

Visiting the National Military Park in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, we toured the battlefield of Chickamauga.

From nps.gov - In north Georgia and south Tennessee, Union and Confederate armies clashed during the fall of 1863 in some of the hardest fighting of the Civil War. The prize was Chattanooga, a key rail center and the gateway to the heart of the Confederacy. In September 1863 the Union Army of the Cumberland was routed at the Battle of Chickamauga and retreated into Chattanooga. Over the next two months Confederate forces besieged the trapped Union army. Finally, in late November 1863 the Union army won a series of battles around Chattanooga and drove the Confederates south into Georgia.

About Joni Eskridge

Joni Eskridge

Beauty is everywhere. Sometimes it hits you in the face; you can't miss it. Other times, you have to go looking for it. But always, no matter where you are, you can find something of beauty. I love the grand landscape, the engaging smile, the cute baby. But even more, I love to find the beauty in the ordinary; the mundane; the thing you just walked past without a glance. If I can make you reconsider; to think about the magnificence of the ordinary - that makes me happy.
