Description
Walking through the woods in Door County Wisconsin, I happened upon this beautiful fungus growing on the side of a tree. The afternoon light filtered through the tree tops making a nice spotlight on the colorful growth.

I'd never thought I'd say a fungus is beautiful but the light and textures in this photo are stunning, Joni! l/f/tw/pin

Thanks so much Kristina for the visit, and taking time to comment. I have seen some really photogenic fungus in my forest and marsh walks, but this one was in a good place and the light made it that much better. Often what I see is at ground level and difficult to get a good photo without a lot of distracting grasses. I've seen some gorgeous mushroom and other fungi pictures in a variety of shapes and colors. A friend of mine even told me that her mother used to use fungi like this as a canvas for painting. It's an amazing world we live in!
