Glacier top in Kenai Fjords National Park, Alaska. While on an Alaskan cruise we took a side trip into Kenai Fjords National Park - one of the best parts of our trip - to observe the wildlife, glaciers and natural beauty of our 50th state. This photo shows the jagged blue ice of the glacier tips against a deep blue sky.
Beauty is everywhere. Sometimes it hits you in the face; you can't miss it. Other times, you have to go looking for it. But always, no matter where you are, you can find something of beauty. I love the grand landscape, the engaging smile, the cute baby. But even more, I love to find the beauty in the ordinary; the mundane; the thing you just walked past without a glance. If I can make you reconsider; to think about the magnificence of the ordinary - that makes me happy.

Joni! so beautiful. The ice so old and blue like it only is where it has been for a very long time. Beautiful against the sky! Wonderful! :-) Maggie
Joni Eskridge replied:
Thanks so much Maggie! Yes, you have to see some of the other wide angle shots from this area to get the scale and see just how high up this is, but layer upon layer of ice accumulated, resulting in these top peaks of beautiful blue ice. Such a wonderful experience!
Aaron Whittemore

Amazing...I thought it was the side of a high snow wall and frozen...but than I saw it was a a glacier ! Amazing....the scale factor !! :)
Joni Eskridge replied:
Long-reaching lenses are very helpful! If you check out my Alaska gallery, you can see the glacier both in a calving shot and a long range as well. In the calving shot notice the gulls in the foreground to get an idea of scale. In the long-range one it's the trees in front of the glacier - which are separated be a corridor of water and they are no small trees, though they look like saplings. Alaska is an amazing place! Thanks for the visit Michel!
