Description
I spent an hour or two one day at a friend's house watching a group of hummingbirds fly back and forth to this nectar feeder hanging outside the ktichen window. Catching them in the act, was the challenge. Fortunately, it was a beautiful sunny day, allowing for a fast shutter speed to keep up with these tiny and elusive flying darts.

Spectacular image !

Thanks so much Maya. Was a very interesting time watching these tiny birds coming and going and interacting with each other. There were several of them, and one male seemed to keep watch over everything while others were feeding. Not sure if that's what was actually going on, but I enjoyed their company. Thanks for the visit and comments!

Wow! Perfect capture of the hummingbird. I've tried taking their pictures, but they move so darn fast!! You did a great job here!
Joni Eskridge replied:
Thanks so much Juli. Yes indeed, they do move quickly. I had the advantage of a light background, a sunny day, a 400mm lens and being able to sit only about 20 feet away from the feeder. There were several hummingbirds that kept coming and going on a frequent basis. I sat out there for probably over an hour just happily snapping away. I had such a great time that day that I took these mirror image shots and framed them for my hosts. They now hang in their breakfast area near the window where that feeder is. Thanks for the visit and taking time to leave a comment!
