Description
Sun glows on the wing tips of a tan and white mourning dove coming in for a landing. The dove's wings and tail are accented in beautiful blue and black markings. All of this against a pleasantly blurred tan and black background makes the dove truly stand out.

Joni, what a fantastic capture with the dove's winds open like this... just taken at the perfect moment.. wonderful work! :-) Maggie
Joni Eskridge replied:
Thanks Maggie. I really like the Mourning Doves; their song I find very soothing, and their colors are beautiful. They don't seem terribly bright. Sometimes they seem very tolerant, and other times the neighborhood bully. This is one of a series of shots taken with the fast shutter speed of my Canon 7D MK II following the wing span from this open position to curled around his body. One of them reminds me of an orchestra conductor. Such beautiful birds.
