Description
I had never seen Mountain Laurel before last year on a visit to North Carolina, so this, my first spring living in my new home state, was filled with all sorts of discoveries, like this cluster of Mountain Laurel buds nearly ready to bloom.
The Mountain Laurel is most known for its reproductive methods, in which it creates tension on its stamens and flings its pollen onto insects. It is possible for the Mountain Laurel to release pollen in a range of up to six inches. Though beautiful, Mountain Laurel is highly toxic to both humans and animals, when ingested.
