Description
Found this gnarled old cedar tree along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina headed to Mt. Mitchell State Park. I love trees. While trees bright with fall colors are the most amazing - I'm also particularly fond of bare and dead trees, as I find their branches tell interesting tales.
I was immediately drawn to this tree: it's arched bottom look like legs just ready to start walking the forest as the great Ents from The Lord of the Rings. The way the top braches spread out in a mess reminded me of Sideshow Bob on the Simpsons.
So who could resist taking a picture of Sideshow Bob Ent walking over the mountains of North Carolina?
Of course the fact that it was a gorgeous day with amazing clouds and I happened to have my wide angle lens, didn't hurt a bit.
Can't quite jump into my imagination? Well, just call me the crazy tree lady ( :

Joni Eskridge replied:
Thanks Kay. I have to give props to my husband for noticing it on our way up the mountain, and then being kind enough to stop so I could photograph it on our way down. So glad you like it!

Inredible how this tree aged...
Joni Eskridge replied:
Yes - and this is a prime example of why I find bare trees so interesting. You can see how the elements and time have shaped them. A metaphor for life? Thanks for the visit Terry.

If this old tree could talk - great stories, I'm sure!
Joni Eskridge replied:
Thanks Sharon. Appreciate the visit. This was one of the most interesting trees I've seen, and the setting was beautiful.
