Description
According to Cornell Lab's bird app, Merlin, The Sanderling is the most common shorebird seen on beaches. Small flocks run back and forth as if chasing the waves. Paler overall than similar smallish shorebirds. Gray and white in fall and winter; acquires rusy red tones on head and breast in spring. Juveniles in fall are boldly spangled black-and-white above. Breeds in High Arctic.
These two and their other friends provided great entertainment running in each time the wave died down looking for tasty morsels, then turning around and high-tailing it out of there when the new wave came crashing to shore - over and over again - at the Virginia Beach shoreline on a brisk fall day.

Not easy to get those so crisp and clean with their amazing speed !! Great shot dear Joni..and thank you for all your kind comments !!
Joni Eskridge replied:
You are most correct Michel about their speed! Many clicks of the shutter and much patience went into getting this final result. Lots of shots on the "cutting room floor"! Thanks for the visit. I enjoyed visiting your gallery. Always thought provoking and interesting.
