Description
Much of the grounds around Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory where high-energy physics is studied, is open to the public, and a nature-lover's happy place. Bird watchers wander through woods and prairies, large and small ponds can be found housing various water fowl and in one section you'll find a fenced in area with a small herd of buffalo. I spent some time in the woods one windy November day. The floor was covered with fallen leaves and the tall bare trees on this foggy late afternoon looked a bit foeboding. The processing here is an attempt to convey that mood.

Nice to see this done in the greyscale; it suits this image perfectly. The bit of mist in the background .. the fallen tree.. (which is very nicely composed across the frame here) again convey to me a time of introspection (the bench & the fog or mist) & quiet times :))

It is great to have the ability to use different tools to convey a story. This says to me the time has come to leave the woods for the warmth of an indoor fireplace. The B&W convey that end of good weather - the cold is coming. But the bench in the background holds the promise of spring and a return visit. I have another photo in this series that is in color, focusing on the bench taken, a bit earlier in the afternoon, that I have used for greetings cards because it tells a different story - come away and rest in this quiet place; find peace and give your burdens to your creator. Will post soon.
