Description
I remember the first time I saw a bird that looked like this and someone remarked that it was a Red Winged Blackbird. I scoffed! Since then, I have come to appreciate the beauty of the female of the species with her variations of tan and brown and lovely patterns. On this day, I was on my sit stool in the yard, just enjoying the spring day. In eary spring, before the marshy area beyond my fence gets all overgrown, the grasses lay somewhat dormant and the dried remnants of winter still remained. This lovely female perched on some of the dried brush and with the greens and browns of the blurred background, made a lovely portrait for me - and hopefully you - to enjoy.

A beautiful capture, Joni; I love the bright colours & the clean lines of the composition. I think I too would have scoffed: the red winged blackbird trills one of my very favourite birdsongs, 'tho I doubt I would have recognized the female :))

Thanks Connie! Spring is such a beautiful time of year - especially after the dull colors of winter. Appreciate the visit!
