Description
Found this gnarled old cedar tree along the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina headed to Mt. Mitchell State Park. I love trees. While trees bright with fall colors are the most amazing - I'm also particularly fond of bare and dead trees, as I find their branches tell interesting tales.
I was immediately drawn to this tree: it's arched bottom look like legs just ready to start walking the forest as the great Ents from The Lord of the Rings. The way the top braches spread out in a mess reminded me of Sideshow Bob on the Simpsons.
So who could resist taking a picture of Sideshow Bob Ent walking over the mountains of North Carolina?
Of course the fact that it was a gorgeous day with amazing clouds and I happened to have my wide angle lens, didn't hurt a bit.
Can't quite jump into my imagination? Well, just call me the crazy tree lady ( :

The Ents was the first thing I thought of when I first looked at this fabulous tree ... and then I read your description. lol! I love old, dead trees too ... the bare bones. So many stories to tell, like you said. Great find and photo, Joni.
